NALB board member Jimmy Shafe made time on his recent visit to Congo to spend a short class period talking to 40 UPC business students on business start up issues. “I talked about peeling a banana differently (how to look for different and better ways to do something… there really is a better way), finding a niche, and life/corporate balance between spiritual, family, and career,” Jimmy explains. Jimmy is the founder (1973) and CEO of Career Training Concepts, Inc., a training, publishing, and personnel outsourcing company of just over 200 employees. The Georgia, USA-based entrepreneur was raised in the DRC and now devotes half his time to volunteer work supporting UPC and projects in Congo’s Kasai provinces as Director of Rivers of the World, Congo-Kasai chapter (ROW-CK) www.row.org. Traveling with Jimmy on this trip was another UPC supporter, Rev. Don Bobb, who served as UPC Chaplain in the University’s early days in Kisangani. Don lives in Austin, TX where the 81 year old is still very active in supporting Congo mission efforts.
